The third quarter of 2022 saw significant activity among the top social networking apps on iOS in Kenya. Here’s a look at how the top five apps performed, based on data from Sensor Tower.

WhatsApp Messenger demonstrated consistent weekly downloads, with a peak at approximately 3.5K in the week of September 5. Revenue remained relatively stable throughout the quarter, averaging around $3 per week. Active users saw a slight decline from 177.7K at the beginning of the quarter to around 171K by the end of September.

Telegram Messenger experienced fluctuations in its weekly downloads, with a notable spike to 3.4K in mid-August. Revenue showed an upward trend, peaking at $74 in the final week of September. Active user numbers varied, starting at around 103.5K and ending the quarter at approximately 91.5K.

Facebook maintained stable weekly downloads, averaging around 1.8K. Revenue was highest in early July at $132 and saw another peak of $128 in mid-July. Active users steadily increased, starting at 252K and reaching about 258K by the end of the quarter.

Messenger had consistent weekly downloads, ranging from 1.3K to 1.7K. The app saw a steady number of active users, peaking in mid-August at approximately 194.8K before slightly declining to around 187.2K by the end of September.

imo-International Calls & Chat had lower download numbers compared to other apps, hovering around 600 per week. Revenue peaked at $12 in late June and saw minor fluctuations throughout the quarter. Active users remained relatively stable, averaging around 22.8K.
